Commercial Kitchen Canopies for Wall Mounted Kitchens

A wall canopy is the most common commercial kitchen canopy: a stainless steel hood fixed against the wall above a row of cooking equipment. It captures heat, steam and grease from the line and carries them into the duct and fan.

We fabricate each wall canopy to the width, depth and drop height your kitchen needs, then install it with the ductwork and fan so the whole exhaust path is designed together.

What We Build Into a Wall Canopy

Wall canopies work best when the overhang and exhaust rate suit the appliances beneath them. We confirm the equipment list and layout before fabrication so the hood is not over or undersized.

  • Custom widths, depths and drop heights to match the cooking line
  • Removable stainless steel baffle filters and grease gutters
  • Integrated LED task lighting
  • Top, rear or side duct spigots to clear beams and services
  • Stainless wall infill panels and splashbacks behind the line

How We Build It

KS Steel Engineering has been operating for 13 years from Epping. You send us the layout or equipment list and a few site photos; we confirm measurements, scope the canopy, ducting and fan, and quote. The canopy is fabricated in our Epping workshop, then our team delivers and installs it and connects the ductwork and fan.

Because we make the canopy ourselves, changes to size, filter layout or duct connection points are handled at the fabrication stage rather than on site.

Standards, and Where We Install

Commercial kitchen ventilation in Australia is governed by AS 1668.2, and other requirements cover the fire performance of surrounding construction. What applies depends on the building, the cooking equipment and your local authority. We fabricate to the design and approvals for your project.

Our workshop is at Unit 1/22 Salicki Ave, Epping. We install across Melbourne, including the northern suburbs of Lalor, Thomastown, Mill Park, Bundoora, South Morang, Whittlesea, Reservoir, Preston, Campbellfield, Broadmeadows and Craigieburn, plus Altona, Dandenong, Clyde and Geelong. We have also completed projects in regional Victoria (Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton, Mildura, Wodonga, Seymour, Moe and Drouin) and in Canberra. Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the length of the cooking line, the heat output of the appliances and the ceiling height. Send us the equipment list and layout and we will size the canopy and duct to suit.
